This position is in the Management Personnel Plan (Administrator 1) and earns management benefits including medical, dental, vision, $100,000 life insurance plan, and the CalPERS pension plan. For more information on benefits included for this position, please see the benefits summary. This is a full-time, benefits eligible, at will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs. The Director of Development and Community Affairs is a high-level fundraising professional responsible for raising gifts to support SDSU Imperial Valley and reports to the Dean of SDSU Imperial Valley. The Director is a member of the university’s development team, with a dotted line report to the AVP for Development. He/she is responsible for implementing short and long term fundraising goals as part of the Campaign development plan, and is responsible for securing private voluntary support from individuals, corporate and foundation donors to the University. The primary responsibility for this position is to raise major gifts for SDSU Imperial Valley’s funding initiatives (operational, capital, scholarships, endowments). This position will manage a pool of 150 or more major gift prospects working to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects. The Director will manage a portfolio coordinating activities of prospect management, research, scholarship, annual and planned giving and corporate and foundation relations. The Director will actively conduct and prepare basic prospect research, developing profiles on major gift prospects, corporations, and foundations, summarizing verbally and in writing, pertinent and detailed information as it relates to college priorities and strategic plans. The Director will work with the Dean and AVP for Development on strategies for prospects in his/her portfolio. The Director will work with the Dean and AVP for Development to define annual and long-term fundraising strategic plans and goals and communications and engagement strategies for SDSU Imperial Valley. Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,583 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
