Position Information

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary). This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Doctoral Program Specialist and Assistant to the Associate Dean is responsible, under minimal supervision, for maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of all relevant information on doctoral students from admission to graduation, including an inventory of financial support, and for evaluating and verifying degree completion requirements. Serving as the central point of contact, the incumbent will coordinate with doctoral program leadership, deans’ offices, other administrative offices at SDSU and counterparts at joint doctoral program partner institutions to ensure clear collection and dissemination of information regarding all matters related to doctoral programs and students. The Specialist is responsible for the preparation of seasonal and ad hoc reports, and for advising doctoral students on degree requirements, committee guidelines, regulations, and deadlines. Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $4,500 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,897 - $6,846 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
