Position Information

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Under minimal supervision of the Coordinator of Graduate Programs and Evaluations, the primary responsibilities of Graduation Evaluator are: 1) Oversee degree progress, special petitions and graduation for at least a third of the Master's degree students. 2) Coordinate with faculty and staff from across campus regarding a variety of graduate student matters. 3) Review student coursework and petitions in the context of program and university requirements, which may be complex and are revised each year. 4) Review student petitions, program waivers and course changes, and electronically implement associated exceptions and degree requirements. 5) Be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of degree evaluation software. 6) Be a "super-user" of software for graduate student electronic forms and petitions by managing form content, routing and the electronic approval process. The successful candidate must be able to establish working relationships with department faculty and staff, graduate evaluators, and student support staff from across the university. Because this includes staff associated with a variety of electronic procedures and coding of the student information system, the candidate must have excellent communication skills regarding electronic systems, processes and databases. Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $4,667 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,179 - $5,942 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Possession of the required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.
