Position Information

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before one year from the date of the appointment with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. The core work of the Marketing Strategy & Research Analyst position is to conduct primary and secondary research activities to collect data related to university degree programs, trends in online education, and other related aspects of higher education. The Marketing Strategy & Research Analyst will design and implement research, produce dynamic and engaging reports, and make tactical recommendations in support of marketing, recruitment and strategic planning activities for the college. This person will also act as the primary point of contact for external research partners and oversee all external and internal marketing research efforts. This position will work with the Director of Marketing to uncover and develop opportunities for development and promotion of the college’s programs and initiatives. This person will conduct data analysis to inform strategic and tactical decision-making in the marketing and recruitment space. This role will serve as the subject matter expert in marketing and communications research methodologies and reporting techniques and their input will provide information critical to determining program design, delivery and promotion. Knowledge of online marketing methods is important; this position will be expected to evaluate the influence of advertising strategies on recruitment goals and present their findings in visual and written formats. This person will also support the college’s search engine optimization (SEO), conversion optimization, and marketing communications efforts. As assigned by the Director of Marketing, the specialist will work on special projects, including recurring and one-time marketing assignments as needed. These may not necessarily require research, but will meet the organization’s objectives, such as actively promoting the college’s programs and other offerings. Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,417 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,104 - $7,209 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of the fundamentals of public affairs and/or media relations, and/or some exposure to marketing and marketing research. This background normally is obtained through a college degree, which includes relevant coursework in the field, and up to two years of related professional or technical experience. In addition, strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication vehicles are essential to initial entry to this classification.
