Position Information

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before 9/10/2019, with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Expected work hours are Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Under general supervision, incumbent performs the full range of skilled painter work including preparation of surfaces for painting and finishing (scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, glazing, and applying fillers and primers) and application of finishes (using brush, roller, spray and electro-static spray equipment). Mixes and matches paints and finishes; performs sand and water blasting; erects scaffolding and hangs rigging. Repairs damaged walls and finishes, prepares existing surfaces for painting and applies finishes in classroom, labs, restroom facilities, common areas, etc. Prepares new walls and applies finishes to new construction. Responds to trouble calls, e.g., removal of graffiti or vandalism, and minor work requests; troubleshoots and repairs damaged finishes. Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,243 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,207 - $6,654 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard painter’s apprenticeship program. Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
