This is a full-time, benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before 06/30/2020, with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position, in collaboration with, and under the direction of the Director and Associate Director of the Center for Intercultural Relations provides assistance in the leadership and programmatic efforts for the LGBT Center. The Assistant Coordinator provides support and assistance to implement training, programs, and services of the Center. This position will assume a shared role in creating, sustaining, and strengthening an open, inclusive, safe and affirming gathering space and campus environment for all persons, supporting students who identify as LGBTQ+. The person in this position will promote and foster academic success, leadership, personal development and professional growth; cultivate community for students through the committed, collaborative, effort and support of faculty, staff, and the greater San Diego community; and create, collaborate and implement programs and services which aid in the recruitment, retention, success and graduation of LGBTQ+ students. The person in this role will assist with providing connections to campus and community resources and support services to address the unique needs and challenges of LGBTQ+ students and will help to create meaningful intergroup dialogue between different constituencies of students on campus. This position will serve as a mentor and advisor to students, and a resource to other faculty/staff positions on campus. This position will work with interns and student assistants to design and deliver programs for graduate and/or undergraduate students, and University employees to promote leadership development, equity, multicultural education, social equality, and to address issues in the queer community. Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,685 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,685 - $5,213 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Education equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown Possession of knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of experience in professional student services work at the entry trainee level.
