Position Information

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Expected work hours are Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Services, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the work of the evening shift trade shops, making individual/crew work assignments, and supervising skilled and semi-skilled workers and student assistants in the performance of building maintenance and repair work. Incumbent is responsible for identifying to management issues or situations requiring management involvement. Incumbent provides input to management in preparation of annual performance evaluations. Incumbent performs maintenance, repair and replacement on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical equipment, appurtenances and systems. Incumbent performs a variety of skilled preventive and general maintenance, repair, construction, and renovation work on facilities and systems. Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $7,140 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,145 - $7,788 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications A minimum of two or more years of experience as a journey-level Building Service Engineer that includes some work or project coordination responsibilities. In addition, this position requires a minimum of three or more years of experience working as a journey-level crafts worker in one or more applicable mechanical or related trades, including one to two years in a lead/supervisory capacity.
