Under the general supervision of the Division Dean for Fine Arts Division, the primary responsibilities of this position include planning, teaching, and evaluating classes in graphic arts and design using electronic media.The Fine Arts and Communication Division includes Art, Dance, Drama, Graphic Arts, Music, Photography, and Radio/Television/Film, and Communications. In addition, the Division is responsible for the management of the College's three theatres and the L. H. Horton Art Gallery.
- Responsibilities and Duties

- Instruct the full range of graphic arts courses, including design for publication, Web design, computer art, digital imaging, and Desktop graphic design.
- Conduct related laboratory instruction, including safe handling of materials and equipment.
- Advise and assist students in achieving stated course objectives. Evaluate the progress of each student and notify students in need of counseling service and/or tutorial assistance.
- Actively participate in the Graphic Arts Advisory Committee, in the review of programs and curriculum development. Promote and recruit for the Graphics Arts department.
- Maintain inventory records of equipment and maintain in proper operating condition.
- Attend industry-related meetings, workshops, and job sites to remain current with new developments in the field of graphic arts. Support and participate with local high school programs.
- Participate in the departmental process of curriculum review and modification.
- Complete various reporting procedures as required for student evaluation, course reporting and budget development.
- Assist the Division Dean in the preparation of reports, budgets, evaluation information, and other related duties.
- Schedule individual conferences with students.
- Participate in departmental, divisional and campus-wide committees as part of the shared-governance process.
- Coordinate course offerings with faculty and staff in interrelated disciplines, including photography, journalism, mass media, broadcasting (radio/television/film), art, and drama.
- Supervise classified staff members and student workers when assigned.
- Perform other necessary duties which assure the smooth functioning of the Fine Arts Division, as assigned by the Division Dean and as outlined in Board Policy.

- Demonstrated familiarity with and successful teaching experience in using the latest design and desktop publishing equipment and software.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present information in classroom and laboratory instructional settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative manner with administrators, faculty, staff, students and community groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities and cultures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the diverse needs and abilities of non-traditional students and familiarity with materials and methods designed to meet their needs.
- Demonstrated willingness to put in extra time required to make a program successful.
- Demonstrated ability to work with advisory committees in the development and revision of curriculum, job placement strategies, and program review.
- Demonstrated utilization of individualized teaching methodologies to meet the needs of Delta College's diverse student body.
- Demonstrated utilization of innovative methods and adaptability to change in order to meet the rapidly changing technology in graphic arts.
- Demonstrated experience with computers and computer applications for graphic arts.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Education and Experience Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in graphic arts or related field from an accredited college or university with at least two years of professional experience OR Associate's degree in graphic arts or related field from an accredited college or university with at least six years of professional experience.
