About the Position

Court Liaison and Crime Analyst processes and prepares police reports, criminal complaints, traffic, and criminal citations for review and prosecution. There are statutes which mandate certain deadlines for filing complaints with the court system and because of that we must have full time coverage in the unit. Monitor our crime trends and provide charts, maps and presentations to assist with our mission here on campus. In addition, the Court Liaison and Crime Analyst would participate in crime research with local, state and federal agencies and disperse findings to department personnel. They would attend law enforcement meetings as needed for crime exchange information and prepare informational bulletins for distribution within the Police Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: - Conduct daily custody status queries within the varied state and county databases - Prioritize criminal complaints based on custody status and court date - Check state and county databases for lab results with associated criminal complaints - Prepare and submit police reports to the District Attorney¿s Office, Hall of Justice, Drug Court, Traffic Court, California Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, Santa Clara County Probation Department, Juvenile Probation Department, Family Court Department, local police agencies when needed, and Federal Law Enforcement agencies - Update case status with in the Records Management System and various state databases - Prepare reports for the purging of property and evidence - Subpoena service to sworn personnel and coordination of subpoena service of the civilian witnesses - Work with various local and federal agencies - Apply knowledge of computers, software, the law, and to research possible crime trends - Process information clearly and accurately to generate reports, charts, maps, presentations and other means of conveying relevant and detailed information - Extract crime and intelligence data and compile to provide recommendations to departmental personnel - Participate in crime research with local, state and federal agencies and relay findings to department personnel - Update information in local, state, and federal databases - Attends law enforcement meetings as needed for crime information exchange - Prepare wanted or informational bulletins from crime reports and distribute within the Police Department |

Education and Experience
|

A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
|

Preferred Qualifications
|

- 5 years of experience in an office setting
- Experience with management/oversight of staff/students - Experience with MS Office; especially Word and Excel - Experience with CGIC county database - Experience with CLETS, CAL Photo, CSAR state databases - Experience with PeopleSoft - Experience with student/alumni outreach/communication, i.e. social media, newsletter management, etc. |

- Ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Possess good organizational skills and maintains security of police records. - Exposure to graphic or disturbing images may occur within this position. - Knowledge of software applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and web maintenance. - Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. - Ability to handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects. - Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with employees and external agencies. - Ability to provide lead direction, training, and guidance to student assistants. - Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area. - Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple administrative and clerical tasks for a variety of users, and direct student assistants - Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handle multiple work unit priorities and projects - Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships. - Thorough knowledge of methods, procedures and practices; English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling. - Ability to quickly learn and apply a variety of state, federal, CSU, and SJSU policies and procedures. - Excellent customer service and public relations skills. - Ability to effectively write and present own reports. - Ability to maximize productivity through the use of appropriate tools. - Ability to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions. |
