About the Position
|

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Services, the Director has oversight responsibility for the overall operation of the Student Health Center (SHC), including the assessment of student health care needs, development of programs and policies, management of a complex budget, and the supervision of approximately 60 staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, technicians, ancillary health care professionals, managers, administrative support staff, and student assistants. SHC provides a full range of ambulatory health care services and is organized into three four major areas: Clinical Services, Health and Wellness Education, Ancillaries and Administration. The Director is responsible for these areas and for coordinating SHC goals, objectives, and actions with those of the Division of Student Affairs and other University units. Work may include late night, early morning, weekend commitments, and travel as situations dictate/require.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: -Develops and implements short- and long-term strategic plans for organizational sustainability, program goals, and operating procedures for SHC to provide visionary leadership and direction for the department, and to foster continued support of a healthy campus community and specifically student centered health care. -Directly supervises three managers (Associate Director for Student Health Center, Associate Director for Health and Laboratory Supervisor and Wellness Promotions) and one professional staff member (Senior Operations Officer). Oversees supervision of staff in three different collective bargaining units. -Works with the Associate Vice President for Student Services and University Personnel on recruitment, evaluation of applicants, interview of candidates, and recommendations of appointment to SHC. -Partners with the leadership in Counseling and Psychological Services in the operation and maintenance of the Student Wellness Center and its key functional and technological infrastructure, including policies and procedures for building security, development and implementation of long-range plans for building maintenance and repair, and planning for growth in services that align with student enrollment. -Oversees compilation and analysis of statistical data as required for system reporting and accreditation. -Participates in the preparation of the annual budget. This is a position in the CSU - Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position will require adherence to University compliance training such as: Conflict of Interest and Ethics, AB 1825 Sexual Harassment Prevention, Information Security, and Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The person hired for this position may be required to complete an outside employment disclosure statement in accordance with Title V of the California Code of Regulations. |

Minimum Qualifications
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||
-MD with 2 years administrative experience required or non-MD with Bachelor or Graduate degree in business, health-related field or equivalent.
-A minimum of five years of responsible experience in healthcare administration required. -Knowledge of accreditation standards and processes. |

Preferred Qualifications

-MD with 3 years administrative experience required or non-MD with Graduate degree in business or health-related field with 3 years administrative experience
-Seven years of experience preferred. -Extensive knowledge of accreditation standards and processes is highly desirable. -Expertise and demonstrated efforts in preventive health and health promotion is highly desirable. -Experience working within a collective bargaining context is highly desirable. -CSU experience managing a college health center. -Demonstrated aptitude implementing college health programs and initiatives focusing on student success. |

-Skills in planning, organizing, and directing a diversified program of student health services. -Skills in supervising and coordinating health service and evaluation programs. -Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public. -Ability to motivate, supervise, and evaluate professional and other staff. -Knowledge of the principles of management, organizational planning, and personnel utilization. -Knowledge of and demonstrable success in developing collaborative teams, which work from shared values to achieve strategic priorities. -Knowledge of, or an ability to learn rules, regulations, policies, and standards related to student health center medical services. -General knowledge of County Medical Society, California Medical Association, and American Medical Association ethics and standards. -Working knowledge of college health center AAAHC accreditation standards. -Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables. -Ability to study available resources and recommend program modifications and/or additions as necessary. |
