About the Position
|

The IT Communications and Project Consultant provides consultative support and technical/IT communications to students, staff, and faculty that enhance the use and access of technology and information systems. The core functions for the incumbent are to provide communications and training resources to users and the university community that maximize their ability to utilize and understand system capabilities, features, and an understanding of all the IT resources available. The incumbent will also develop IT communication plans that encompass all available channels including social media, and digital communications for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 1. IT Communication, and Technical Writing -Maintain a continuous review of IT communication processes; identify and address areas where change is needed to meet the IT Divisions needs. -Responsible for user experience, and overall maximizing SJSU utilization of DocuSign. -Responsible for SJSU IT Division DocuSign content. -Responsible for overseeing the content that appears on the IT website and IT Web content. -Develop step-by-step process documentation. -Research, design and develop user guides, exercises, handouts and manuals, FAQs, Web pages, help files, newsletter articles, and other sources of information for faculty, students, and staff. -Create IT and communications content for both technical and non-technical audiences and delivers content through various modes appropriate for the best delivery of information. -Work with the Director, IT Program Management & Communication in the development of communication, strategy, and plans. -Work with the Office of CIO with preparing University level communication material including but not limited to Division meeting presentations and IT campus multimedia communications. -Work on the development and documentation of IT operational processes. 2. Multimedia Communications -Create multimedia programs that meet academic and administrative goals. -Develop and execute multimedia presentation proposals that incorporate all technical and media elements; -Develop multimedia and computer-based interactive instructional applications and materials that include such elements as moving video, sound, computer animation, and text for faculty use in classrooms. -Function as a producer and director for multimedia projects ensuring coordination of all media and technical elements including narration, computer graphics, audio and visual effects, recording, mixing, and transmission as appropriate to the project 3. High Tech and Higher Education Partnerships -Support senior management in identification and creation of partnerships with the following Industries: -Advanced Technology: Big Data Analytics, Cloud Virtualization, Health Informatics. -Computer Science & Information Technology: Cyber Gaming, Information Assurance & Cyber Security. -Science & Technology Management: Logistics, Materials & Supply Chain General Education. -Assist senior management team, help design, create and implement marketing material for conferences, summits, workshop for the High Tech industry and SJSU focusing on new and emerging technologies and how they impact Higher Education. |

Education and Experience
|

Bachelor¿s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study and five years of experience supporting information systems and technology.

-Strong interpersonal or communication skills in working with users to interpret needs and deliver appropriate IT solutions in a technical team environment.
-Demonstrated project management skills, including project planning, budgeting, and process control. -Strong knowledge of Project management principles, practices, and procedures (Agile/SDLC). -Deep knowledge and understanding of Technology and Technology Trends. -Strong ability to develop, use and communicate the results of data analytics reporting. -Ability to multi-task across technical projects, technologies and subject areas. -Expert ability to prepare technical and non-technical communication objectives and convey them effectively verbally, electronically and in written formats. -Ability to lead and manage projects and change implementations in alignment with IT best practices. -Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate communication solutions in cooperation with other campuses IT staff. -Thorough knowledge in researching and identifying communication needs and target users; thorough knowledge of social media, web communication techniques, platforms, and formats -Ability to effectively use web technologies to achieve communication goals. -Ability to organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities. -Demonstrated ability to work independently. -Ability to develop and use analytics in marketing and communications. -Ability to initiate and manage multiple tasks, projects and people under competing deadlines and maintain flexibility during constant shifting priorities -Working knowledge of applicable software packages. -Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships within the university and community. |
