Organizational Unit Overview |
The Pirate Academic Success Center at East Carolina University provides academic support services for undergraduate students. The primary goals of the center are to provide comprehensive academic services including tutoring, study skills workshops, academic coaching by professional staff, the administration and support of learning communities such as FIP Scholars, and peer academic mentoring for freshman and at risk students. Historically, the center has served 25% of the undergraduate enrolled at ECU and provides services in both face to face and digital formats. This position is assigned to the Pirate Academic Success Center which is part of the Undergraduate Studies unit in Academic Affairs. |
Job Duties |
The Assistant Director of the Pirate Academic Success Center will report directly to the Director of the Pirate Academic Success Center.Key Responsibilities: |
Minimum Education/Experience |
The Assistant Director must possess a graduate degree from an appropriately accredited institution. The Assistant Director must have experience in academic support, education, tutoring services, or program development. Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and customer-service skills are required. |
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation |

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
A graduate degree in a closely related discipline (examples include but are not limited to: counseling, adult education, educational leadership, public administration, psychology, or higher education administration) from an appropriately accredited institution. Three years’ combined experience in academic support, education, tutoring services, or program development in an institution of higher learning. |
