Title: Federal Work Study Research Assistant
Saybrook University is seeking a Federal Work Study Student: Research and Teaching Assistant to join its Department of Transformative Social Change (TSC).
Under the direction of the Chair and Faculty, Department of Transformative Social Change, the Federal Work Study Student: Research and Teaching Assistant is responsible for supporting the Department of Transformative Social Change in providing course delivery, research, and building a healthy learning community.
Position responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide support to the Department of Transformative Social Change, including assistance in updating of course syllabi, Canvas course shells, and TSC Community in Canvas.
- Ordering and tracking of books for review for courses on behalf of faculty.
- Potential service on TSC Department Student Advisory Committee.
- Potential service as a Student Mentor within the TSC Department
- Conduct library data-base searches on a variety of topics in transformative social change.
- Summarize articles and obtain full text copies of relevant research reports
- Participate in communications with potential applicants, providing potential applicants with a student perspective on the TSC learning process.
- Assist with instructional tasks, including reviewing and responding to student work.
- Assist with preparation of presentations.
- Communicate with students on behalf of the course instructor.
Position Requirements:
- Candidate must be a current student in good standing in the Transformative Social Change program.
- Student must demonstrate competence in data-base searches.
- Student must present and express her/himself well to engage in contact with faculty, students, and potential applicants.
Position Qualifications:
- Candidate must be enrolled in a graduate a degree in Transformative Social Change.
- Candidate must display academic writing skills in APA format.
- Candidate must have skills in conducting electronic data base library searches.
