The SC State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education/SC Technical College System (the System) includes 16 Technical Colleges and the Center for Accelerated Technology Training (CATT) and its readySC™ industry-specific training programs. In 2005-06, the System served nearly 235,000 through its credit and continuing education programs.

The System is responsible for state-level development, implementation and coordination of postsecondary occupational and technical education and training, with the purpose of supporting the economic and workforce development of the state. With campuses strategically located across South Carolina, the System provides the following postsecondary education, advanced technical training and workforce development services:

• Certificate, diploma and associate degree programs;

• The internationally recognized CATT and its readySC™ workforce training programs for eligible new and expanding and businesses and industries;

• Continuing education for lifelong learning;

• Business, industry, education, government and community partnerships; and,

• Associated services such as student financial aid and counseling.
