Southwestern Oregon Community College is located in Coos Bay at the heart of Oregon’s scenic south coast–known for its miles of open public beaches, vast forests, clear lakes and rivers, towering sand dunes, abundant wildlife and recreational opportunities.  The communities of Coos Bay, North Bend, and Charleston with a population of 26,000 people are located approximately 110 miles north of the California border and roughly 115 miles west, southwest of Eugene.

Southwestern’s campus sits in a 125 acre wooded area on Empire Lakes combining education in a safe environment with the pleasures of coastal living and 20 minutes from the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.  The college district covers 3,648 square miles with a population of more than 92,000.  Started in 1961 as the first of Oregon’s 17 community colleges with an enrollment of 266 students, it is the only public, post-secondary institution in the region, serving over 14,000 students with an extensive array of college classes leading to degree or certificate programs.
