Job Description:
SUNY Empire State College seeks a dynamic Human Resources Assistant (HRA) (State Title: Personnel Assistant) in the Office of Human Resources located in Saratoga Springs, NY. The individual will be responsible for working closely with the HR team and college wide staff to assist with employee development initiatives to include overseeing coordination of training events and educational programs, and providing professional development opportunities in Human Resource topics.
The HRA will identify and assess future and current training needs through surveys and interviews with key stakeholders to identify skills or knowledge gaps in consultation with managers and will deploy a wide variety of training methods to include on the job coaching, mentoring, e learning and soft skills development. The HRA will utilize feedback from trainers and trainees to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs to determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs.
The HRA will also assist with and facilitate the administration of a wide variety of human resources activities to support faculty and staff in the areas of benefits, employee relations, performance management, and staffing. The individual will work closely with a team of HR staff and serve as a resource to college employees regarding matters related to compliance with SUNY policies, Civil Service Rules and Regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
The successful candidate shall possess the ability to work with a high level of attention to detail, excellent independent judgment, the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, develop collegial working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels, work independently and as part of a team, strong analytical and decision making skills, quality and customer service oriented and the skills to harness software and technology to maximize efficiencies.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
- 3 years of relevant professional experience; preferably in higher education
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and web based systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience within SUNY in a human resources role

- May involve occasional travel
