Job Description:
SUNY Empire State College,Division of Student Affairs, Office of Student Life, is seeking a part-time (40%) Student Affairs Specialist (State title: Staff Assistant) for our Saratoga Springs location.
The Office of Student Life provides students the opportunities and access to career services, health and wellness initiatives, and engagement experiences. These offerings not only supplement students' academic curriculum but also provides them the chance to interact with other students, engage in their local communities, and get involved with their local Empire State College location. As part of the Division of Student Affairs, the selected individual will be involved in working closely with students and supporting them through their academic journey through co-curricular projects. The person in this position will report directly to the Coordinator of Student Life.
The college is seeking a Student Affairs Specialist to provide a range of support services and handle a wide range of functions within the office. The staff assistant will:
- Assist in the development and implementation of the college's annual Student Leadership Institute
- Assist in the marketing, maintenance and event coordination for several of the college's awards and recognitions programs
- Serve on and support the Fall Student Conference Planning Committee
- Provide support for the office's annual Fall Student Conference
- Assist in developing a new Peer Coaching leadership track for the Fall Student Conference
- Provide general support to the Office of Student Life
- Provide special project support to the Dean of Student Affairs
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1-3 years of experience working in higher education
- Effective time management skills, with an ability to organize, prioritize, and solve problems accurately
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience working with non-traditional students
Special Information:
- May involve occasional travel
- VISA sponsorship is not available for this position
- Part-time hours(40%) Monday - Friday in either the morning or afternoon

Rank/Salary: $16,000
