Strayer has been committed to educating working adults for 120 years and is recognized as one of America’s most respected adult-focused universities with campuses in 24  states and Washington, D.C. Almost 50,000 students attend Strayer including more than 1,200 international students.

We offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs in accounting and finance, business administration, criminal justice, health services administration, human resource management and information systems and technology, among others.

Jack Welch is world-renowned for his lengthy and successful run as CEO of GE.  The Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer is based on his pioneering management techniques along with those of other respected leaders.

History

  • Strayer University traces its roots to April 1892, when Strayer’s Business College of Baltimore City was founded by Dr. S. Irving Strayer.
  • The College expanded to Washington, D.C. in 1904. The school was eventually renamed Strayer College and was licensed to grant bachelor of science degrees in 1970. In 1987, the College was authorized to award master’s degrees.
  • In 1996, Strayer College began to offer its first online courses. In 1998, Strayer College received approval to change its name from Strayer College to Strayer University.
