SUMMARY:
The Financial Aid Advisor - Loans, under direction, assists with the administration and processing of all student loans which include, but are not limited to the Direct Subsidized and Unsubsized Federal Student Loans, PLUS (Parent Loans for Students), CAL( College Access Loans), Alternative Loans, and Texas B-On-Time Loans.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with all aspects of the student loan delivery system in the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
- Calculates and repackages student loans due to overaward situations.
- Responsible for Importing and Exporting Data to COD (Common Origination & Disbursement System).
- U.S. Department of Education) for processing financial aid packages.
- Responsible for all EFT student loan disbursements and for returning necessary funds.
- Reviews student loan reports and reconciles on a daily basis.
- Advises and counsels students regarding the student loan process.
- Responsible for conducting Entrance and Exit Loan Sessions and for implementing and maintaining a student loan default prevention plan.
- Conducts presentations on and off campus.
- Prepares federal, state, and institutional reports concerning student loans.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Oral and written communication skills. Customer Service skills.
- Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to work individually or as a team. Ability to organize and make decisions. Requires some evening and weekend work.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid driver’s license.

- Other Requirements: As an advisor to students and/or processor of student athlete information, will be required to receive training in athletic compliance and must follow all NCAA rules.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Some experience in planning, organizing, or in higher education preferred. A thorough and working knowledge of federal, state and Texas A&M University-Commerce laws, regulations, practices and procedures pertaining to student financial aid a plus. A thorough and working knowledge of Banner is helpful.
