The University of Central Florida, founded in 1963, is the second-largest university in the nation. Located in Orlando, Florida, UCF and its 13 colleges provide opportunities to more than 63,000 students, offering 212 degree programs from UCF's main campus and its 10 regional campuses.

UCF has joined MIT, Harvard and Stanford on the U.S. News & World Report’s list of America’s “Most Innovative Schools.” Announced in the magazine’s Best Colleges 2016 guide, the category recognizes “the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities.” UCF tied for 13th place with Georgia Tech and the University of Southern California. And Kiplinger’s and The Princeton Review ranked a UCF education as one of the nation’s best values last year.

UCF, Florida’s largest university, promotes a diverse and inclusive environment. Students from come 50 states and 157 countries. We’re dedicated to faculty success

One of UCF’s priorities is strengthening its faculty by adding world-class researchers and scholars, and ensuring the success of each member in the classroom, the research lab and beyond. From teaching technologies and professional development to research mentoring and work-life balance, UCF faculty are supported across campus through a variety of offices and centersaimed to help them achieve more.

UCF is an academic, partnership and research leader in numerous fields, such as optics, modeling and simulation, engineering and computer science, business administration, education, the sciences including biomedical sciences, hospitality management and digital media. Last year, UCF launched an inaugural Faculty Cluster Initiative to develop interdisciplinary teams to solve today’s most challenging scientific and societal challenges. Six clusters were created in fields as diverse as sustainable coastal systems and renewable energy to intelligent prosthetics and cyber security.

In 2014-15, UCF professors received $133.4 million in research funding and have accrued more than $1.1 billion in external grants during the past decade. Distinctive programs extend learning beyond the classroom and include leadership programs, cooperative education, mentorships, internships, service learning and paid research positions.

UCF is one of 25 public universities with the Carnegie Foundation’s highest designation in two categories: community engagement and very high research activity.

The main campus stretches 1,415 acres and manages 800 acres of natural ecosystems resulting in habitats for more than 45 animal species. The Student Union has computer labs, study lounges, ballrooms and meeting rooms, popular eating establishments and a small shopping mall. Students also enjoy a 149,000-square-foot Recreation and Wellness Center complete with a three-story climbing wall, an indoor track and fitness equipment. On-campus housing includes 10 communities for nearly 12,000 students ranging from first-year to graduate students.

The 10,000-seat arena and a 45,000-seat on-campus football stadium were both opened in 2007. This year, the Knights return to competition in the American Athletic Conference as reigning champions in football, softball, women’s golf, volleyball and rowing. Beyond the scoreboards, some of our biggest triumphs have been in the classroom. UCF student-athletes have earned an average GPA of 3.0 or better for 15 consecutive semesters. And our Graduation Success Rate consistently ranks among the best in the nation.
