General Summary:
The University of Massachusetts Boston seeks nominations for and expressions of interest in the position of Dean of its College of Science and Mathematics.
The college has over 3400 undergraduate students, approximately 270 graduate students, 91 tenured or tenure-track members of the faculty and more than 76 non-tenure track instructors. The college provides curricula leading to BA, BS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees through seven departments and programs: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics. For the period 2008 – 2017, the College saw an overall enrollment growth of over 90% and research expenditures growth of 315%, both the largest of any college within the University and continued growth is anticipated. As the chief academic officer of the college, the dean reports to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Working in close collaboration with the campus administrative team, the dean provides intellectual and administrative leadership for academic programs and student success, research and scholarship, and fund raising.
