Assistant or Associate Professor in Public Health
General Summary of Position:
The Department of Public Health, located in the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, is committed to academic excellence and diversity among the faculty, staff, and students and seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member with expertise and research interests in health care management and health care administration. The successful candidate will be appointed at the assistant or associate professor level, depending upon qualifications.
Candidates should have a successful track record or show significant potential to garner extramural funding to support their research programs. The area of research interests is flexible but ideally will interface with disciplines represented within the college. Possibilities include health care delivery systems, patient care delivery methods, transparency of care initiatives, process improvements and quality research of healthcare management, administration, or other related content areas. Emphasis will be placed on individuals with experience working in interdisciplinary teams within the department and the university, and desire to work as a team.
The ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in public health is a requirement. The individual will also be engaged in service to the college as required. We seek applicants recognized for teaching excellence, scholarly productivity, ability to work with diverse populations, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
The Zuckerberg College is dynamic, rapidly expanding, and prepares professionals and scientists in a wide range of health science fields including applied, clinical and translational areas. A large research program and vibrant community partnerships and engagement opportunities enrich and support our educational programs. The successful candidates will collaborate with other college faculty, with community partners, and with external academic colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- A doctoral degree in health care management, administration, or related health science field
- Assistant professors are required to have at least 2 years of post-doctoral experience
- The ability to work effectively with diverse groups and build a strong core of public health research
- Strong record of high visibility research and publication
- Evidence of ability to develop an independent research program and secure extramural funding
Additional Considerations:
- Discipline-specific teaching experience preferred
- Assistant professor candidates must have a research program with a strong likelihood of funding
- Associate professor candidates must have a strong record of research in a currently tenured position with a record of extramural research support preferably from federal sources
- Experience in fostering interdisciplinary research initiatives
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- We seek applicants recognized for teaching excellence, scholarly productivity, and the ability to work with diverse populations. Ability and interest in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is required.
