The English Department at The University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor to start in the Fall Semester of 2019. Primary responsibilities are to provide high-quality teaching and service to the Department. This position is renewable annually, potentially leading to an appointment as Associate Teaching Professor following six consecutive years of outstanding performance evaluations.
Applicants must hold an MA degree in English with a focus on Composition and Rhetoric. The teaching load will be three courses per semester. Service will be to the First Year Writing Program and to the University Writing Center, providing tutoring for undergraduate and graduate students.
Responsibilities will consist of teaching existing courses at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate would also be involved in service and outreach activities, and actively participating in continuing efforts to improve the department's educational mission.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- Applicants must hold an MA degree in English with a focus on Composition and Rhetoric.
- Experience and demonstrated excellence teaching at the undergraduate level is required
- Experience and demonstrated excellence in one-on-one undergraduate and graduate student tutoring in writing
