General Summary of Position:
This being an internal opportunity, only current UML Employees, irrespective of Bargaining units are eligible to apply for this position.
Day to day management of the NERVE Center, including building and maintaining test courses, scheduling the use of the facility and equipment, overseeing robot testing sessions and 3D printing orders from the CRF system, programming robot systems, and developing and designing metrics for evaluation. Responsibilities include daily oversight of robots and infrastructure, providing assistance to faculty, staff, and students on this equipment, and training new personnel on the use of systems.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- At least one year of work in robotics in academic or corporate environments, including design, development, programming, operation, testing, and maintenance
- At least two years experience using power tools for building and construction
- Skills: ROS, C++, Java, Python, SolidWorks, Windows, Linux, interface design, experience conducting user studies, use of power tools, fabrication and construction of industrial parts (including operation of 3D printers, laser cutters, etc.), maintenance of robot systems
Additional Considerations:
- Preference given to candidates with experience programming a wide range of (at least six) robot systems, including industrial robot arms, mobile ground robots, and exoskeletons
- Desirable skills include competency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

This position is contingent upon funding. The initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility of renewal contingent upon funding and successful performance.
