Work Experience:
In lieu of Education: a minimum of 3 years experience in a center based Child Care
setting preferable with experience in classroom management and curriculum
planning and implementation.
In addition to Education: A minimum of 2 years experience in center based Child
Care setting preferable with experience in classroom management and curriculum
planning implementation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Technical Duties: Proficient in math applications and use of spreadsheet programs; ability to operate word processing equipment; advanced written communication skills including grammar, spelling, and punctuation; thorough understanding of all regulations regarding personnel practices.
Motor Skills: Ability to input data to computer. Holds, feeds, and diapers children. Completes and maintains logs and records
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact with others in a professional, courteous, tactful manner; ability to act as a consultant to management. Interacts with others in a professional courteous, tactful manner. Interacts constructively with children. Provide clear direction to subordinates.
Mental Abilities: Organize and prioritize; analyze situations and develop alternatives; analyze data and develop valid conclusions, develop clear, concise policies, procedures and correspondence; provide clear direction to others; manage duties in an environment of changing priorities and frequent deadlines.
Remains patient during periods of extensive child crying.
Sensory Requirements: Ability to communicate with others via telephone; ability to read written documents. Visually monitors children’s appearance and activities; recognizes and responds to crying children; communicates effectively with parents, children and co-workers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
A.Lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, sitting and standing
for prolonged periods. Possesses the ability to react quickly.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Environment:
The individual spends 75% of their time in an air-conditioned
classroom and 25% of their time on an outside playground.
The individual will have heavy exposure to loud noise caused by
playing and crying children, as well as odors from dirty diapers.
Occupational Safety and/or Health Risks: The individual will have daily exposure to body fluid from children while diapering, toileting, and attending to illnesses or injuries. Exposure to Hazards: OSHA Level 1.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists in the planning of curriculum and scheduling of activities, under the direction of 0 .5 1 1.5 2
the Teacher, for Infant-room readiness.
2. Assists the Teacher to implement day to day planned activities or schedule as outlined in 0 .5 1 1.5 2
lesson plans in an orderly manner.
3. Consistently provides a nurturing environment for children and adults at the Center; greets 0 .5 1 1.5 2
each parent and child warmly daily, modulates voices, speaks with children at eye level
physically comforts when necessary.
4. Always provides a safe environment for children and adults at the center as mandated by 0 .5 1 1.5 2
DCF; checks daily for broken toys, equipment, furniture, missing electrical outlet covers,
or any maintenance problems and reports such on a work order to Coordinator
immediately.
5. Maintains current licensure in Red Cross First Aide Course, CPR and 10-hours annual 0 .5 1 1.5 2
update of DCF State Required Child Care Course, 23 for Apple Accreditation
6. Consistently assists the teacher to maintain a neat, organized classroom; always puts 0 .5 1 1.5 2
children’s toys away after use, maintains children’s baskets. Cleans food preparation area
and children’s eating area after feeding times.
7. Consistently completes daily logs, documenting feeding and diapering times accurately 0 .5 1 1.5 2
for parents and other staff.
8. Assists Teacher to implement activities which foster self-reliance; works with children 0 .5 1 1.5 2
and parents to encourage interactive play, fine and gross motor skills, language skills.
Recognizes individual differences as the norm.
9. Consistently demonstrates a high level of energy when necessary and a tolerance 0 .5 1 1.5 2
for noise; demonstrates the ability to remain patient and calm during periods of
extensive infant crying.
10. Maintains responsibility for all infant Room supplies after teacher has left for the 0 .5 1 1.5 2
day.
11. Consistently assists with lunch activities at 11:00 a.m. daily; readies lunches, washes 0 .5 1 1.5 2
hands, puts children in highchairs, feeds children; cleans area after lunch. Always feeds
children in front area.
12. Actively participates in all departmental activities demonstrating dedication and enthusiasm. 0 .5 1 1.5 2
13. Maintains cooperative working relationships with all levels of managements and employees. 0 .5 1 1.5 2
14. Addresses and receives visitors, co-workers, volunteers, parents and children in a pleasant 0 .5 1 1.5 2

guidelines, to any negative situations.

that crib sides are up and in place.

implements all Departmental infection control policies.
21. Demonstrates a complete understanding of hospital fire and safety procedures; assists 0 .5 1 1.5 2
with monthly fire drills for children.
22. Consistently presents a well-groomed professional image according to Departmental 0 .5 1 1.5 2
guidelines; dresses appropriately for activities with infants in department approved
uniform.
23. Always keeps Director advised of all incidents, Parent/Teacher 0 .5 1 1.5 2
interactions, and all situations requiring follow-up attention; reports any out-of-the
ordinary circumstances to Director. Completes accurate incident report when appropriate
and submits approved report to Coordinator immediately following any incident.
24. Ensures that all parent notices go home on date indicated by Director. 0 .5 1 1.5 2
25. Consistently willing to adjust personal schedule to respond to Departmental needs and 0 .5 1 1.5 2
workload. Schedules personal appointments and phone calls outside of work hours
whenever possible.
26. Assists in maintaining daily, accurate record of children’s attendance. 0 .5 1 1.5 2
27. Consistently monitors security of center by ensuring that all outside doors are kept locked 0 .5 1 1.5 2
and that Director is informed of all visitors.
28. Assists with supervising children on playground; gives children total, undivided 0 .5 1 1.5 2
attention and observes all playground safety measures outlined by Director and departmental
policy.
29. Consistently maintains confidential any information related to staff members, children, 0 .5 1 1.5 2
parents, or departmental operations.
30. Consistently inspires confidence from parents and co-workers by remaining well 0 .5 1 1.5 2
