Duties: The Leonard Davis Institute's (LDI's) Health Services Research Data Center (HSRDC) Associate Director will support the use of this shared IT infrastructure and data repository, meeting the needs of Penn's Health Services Research community for high-performance/high-security computing and large database analytics. With the support and guidance of the HSRDC Director, the Associate Director will manage client relationships (almost all of whom are Penn faculty) seamlessly providing the 'human interface' between research faculty and the front line IT support teams who manage the HSRDC IT systems. The Associate Director will need to continually assess faculty needs and provide detailed information about available (and obtainable) data and analytic resources. He/she will also need to work closely with our IT team to develop new capabilities and expand HSRDC's computing, data management, and analytic capabilities.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in IT project planning and/or client management are required (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). A Master's degree would be a plus. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communications skills suitable for consistently productive interactions with both faculty as well as IT systems administrators. While the position does not require skills in IT systems administration, programming, network administration, or any other specific IT skill, the Associate Manager must be conversant with the 'language' of IT and network/server operations, with an ability to get 'up to speed' on new technologies and other aspects of complex, constantly evolving IT systems. Strong problem-solving skills are critical, the candidate must be highly organized and self-initiated. The ability to simultaneous manage multiple projects and meet deadlines is essential. Strong Microsoft Office skills are required. Previous experience with database management/Oracle/SQL and/or experience with data analytics/IT project management would be a big plus.
