Duties: The Executive Director of Finance and Planning is responsible for developing and managing the day-to-day financial operations of the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) in accordance with policies and procedures of the University including accounting functions, analysis, budget development/execution, financial reporting and forecasting. The Executive Director also participates in strategic discussions and decision making for the Perelman School of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
Qualifications: Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in business or a related field, a master's degree and/or CPA license is preferred; and ten or more years of experience in academic medicine finance and/or business operations. Experience in forecasting, analysis, financial accounting and budget planning are essential, as is an understanding of academic medicine and an ability to lead a team in a collaborative matrixed environment. Must be able to work with a wide constituency including department chairpersons, center and institute directors, business managers, finance managers at an academic health center and university administration. Must be a self-starter with strong and effective leadership, organizational and communication skills and a commitment to the mission of an academic medical center. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated ability to listen and understand varied perspectives and take a creative approach to problem solving.
