Description
The Operations Manager manages event support services for all indoor events (nearly 6500 annually) for the Student Center. The manager will develop and administer training for all student and operations staff, supervises 2 full-time and 15 student operations staff, and help ensure building safety, security, and smooth operation. This individual would also be responsible for leadership and training to ensure excellence in achieving quality and customer service goals. The Operations Manager is a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can successfully balance the roles of team manager and team member and thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and responsibilities to perform the following:

Provides complete event equipment setup and support for all indoor event spaces (20 meeting spaces, including the 674-seat ballroom and 413-seat auditorium). Supervises, trains, and manages student event tech staff to ensure that complete and correct setups are executed on time. Manages the Event Management Board to ensure that current information is posted. Creates a safe working environment with a focus on quality.

Develops, administers, and tracks training for all areas of Student Center student employees and full-time operations staff to improve employee performance, increase technical knowledge, and maintain high customer service standards.

Develops, implements, and manages building operating plans, policies, and procedures for a variety of building functions, including inventory, property procurement and control, facility security, and usage of the loading dock area.

Coordinates setup schedule and assignments between key support areas to ensure that event and facility needs are met in a timely fashion.

Ensures buildings are secure, safe, and operational. Works with contractors and ensures that regular Center operations are not disrupted.

Be available for after-hours client support and Facilities management as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position may require early morning, evening, and weekend work, as necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and experience.
