Lafayette College is conducting a search for an Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid, the Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid is a vital member of the financial aid staff. He/she will be a leader among the staff and will play a role division-wide in enrolling and retaining a quality student body that meets the goals of the College.
With just over 2500 students, a total endowment of approximately $800 million, and a financial aid budget over $50M, Lafayette is fortunate to be among the best endowed colleges per capita in the country. The College is committed to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need through scholarships, grants, work-study and loans. In addition, Lafayette was among the first colleges to announce a reduced or no loan policy for low and middle income families, and that commitment continues today. The average annual grant from Lafayette to its students receiving financial aid for 2017-2018 was $39,000.
Primary Responsibilities:
The primary role of this position is to provide exceptional service to students and families in a highly personalized operation. Additionally, the Assistant/Associate Director will be part of the counseling team with the case load of financial aid applicants by performing thorough needs analysis, counseling families, and other financial aid duties.
Additional duties include:
- Managing a portion of the programmatic needs of the office based on the strengths and abilities of the chosen candidate.
- Processing all Federal and State grant/scholarship awards.
- Representing the Financial Aid Office and the College on campus, as well as, externally at the local, state, and national levels.
Qualifications:
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a willing partner in the implementation of the Financial Aid Office’s strategies and goals within the larger goals of Lafayette College. Qualifications include: bachelor’s degree, five or more years of related enrollment or financial aid experience, strong interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail, familiarity with enterprise-type systems such as Banner, and literacy with MS office and PC applications. Additionally, preference will be given to those with experience in Institutional Methodology (IM), Slate CRM, and Cognos reporting tools.
