Position Summary
The Senior Lab Administrator is responsible for Windows and Linux administration of the CSE Department and its instructional labs as well as special projects. The candidate must demonstrate a capability to understand and effectively manage cutting-edge hardware and software across a wide array of educational projects. Representative technologies that may be added include SDN networking, cloud computing infrastructure, advanced gesture recognition systems, Internet-wide distributed systems, next generation smartphones, and 5G networking technologies. The Senior Lab Administrator should also understand the vision, goals and objectives of the lab with respect to the respective courses/domains of the lab.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) preferred.
Required Experience:
Minimum of five years of applicable experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of Windows and Linux/strong Windows and Linux administration skills. Possess advanced computer and technology skills. Proven ability to own, influence, and be accountable for one’s work Ability to develop and manage projects with high degree of independence and accountability and/or work hands-on as a member of a cohesive team Ability to administer web servers, DNS, print servers and/or mail servers. The ability to understand business requirements and work with the functional community to meet requirements. Ability to test, experiment with, and analyze computer systems, programs and other cutting edge technologies for purposes of planning computer laboratory upgrades and new features. Excellent organization and communication skills (verbal and written) Excellent people skills and self-motivation.
