CTL & Distance Education Training Specialist
The CTL & DE Training Specialist is responsible for providing training and resources for faculty who want to use new tools and methods to improve learning in their courses, and for staff who want to improve their work effectiveness. The Training Specialist also provides workshops and assistance in the development of lecture, online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses.
- Provides group and/or one on one training to faculty and staff in the use of technology.
- Develops and provides workshops and assists staff in the effective use of office technologies.
- Explores, researches, evaluates, and advises on new and emerging technologies based on potential to improve and/or evaluate student learning.
- Serves as a consultant to faculty, helping to discover ways to improve and evaluate student learning, and employ technology effectively.
- Designs, conducts, evaluates, and improves professional development workshops for faculty interested in improving learning, and designing and teaching effective courses of all modalities.
- Creates and/or adapts professional development materials and resources (e.g. self-paced online modules) to provide hybrid and online professional development resources for faculty.
- Expands the presence of the CTL.
- Remains current in the use of software, and recommends appropriate software for acquisition by the College. Keeps faculty and staff informed of the benefits of using software.
- Participates in professional development activities related to assigned responsibilities.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Degree in Education, Training and Development, or related field
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of academic disciplines
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Office 365
- Working knowledge of computers and mobile devices
- Good working knowledge and experience in Learning Management System(s) (Blackboard Learn preferred)
- Experience with teaching at the college level preferred
- Experience with video capture preferred
- Two (2) years of faculty and staff training experience preferred
- Flexible schedule, including some evenings
- Knowledge of ADA compliance requirements in education
