SUMMARY:
The Associate Director of Residential Living and Learning – Business Operations is responsible for providing leadership to departmental personnel, with direct responsibility for the business, marketing, and technology functions of the department of Residential Living and Learning.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and direct all functions related to residence hall assignments for students including the coordination of assignments for 2700+ bed spaces on campus, initiation of policies related to assignment priorities and procedures, and interpretation of policy to students, staff, and parents.
- Assists the Director in all aspects of budgeting for the department and provide general budgetary oversight for the department including monthly updates of the departmental budget to monitor expenditures and revenues and coordinate the creation of Residential Living and Learning’s $11 million budget annually.
- Provides departmental oversight for housing charges and meal plans, student account billing and appeal review for special circumstances through petition and appeals.
- Provides direction and support for the main office front desk and customer service initiatives.
- Provides direction and support for the technology functions within Residential Living and Learning including StarRez, residence hall card access, camera services, and technology support for the department.
- Manages and directs all functions related to security in the residence halls including card access, camera services, and desk operations.
- Supplies future planning and forecasting of department initiatives related to student services and revenue growth.
- Remains up-to-date with new state and federal laws pertaining to university housing, and provide training for department staff.
- Assists Director in various projects, communications, and reports, and attend various meetings on his/her behalf.
- Responds as a part of the Residential Living and Learning team to crises in housing facilities.
- Serves on departmental and university-wide committees and task forces as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education, counseling or a related area.
- Experience: Six (6) years of progressive administrative experience to include two (2) years of supervisor experience with full-time employees and two (2) years of budgetary or business operations functions. Demonstrated experience with the use of technology, including database management, in support of the business functions in a client-centered setting. Budget development and management experience. Strong written and oral communication, organizational skills and experience in program development and implementation. Demonstrated leadership including skills in problem solving, crisis intervention, planning, and staff development
- Knowledge / Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication. Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. ability to relate to individuals and groups with widely varying backgrounds, perspectives, education, and skills. Ability to travel. Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid driver’s license. Ability to be certified to drive motor pool vehicles within 60 days of start date.
